Weare Police announce Safe Disposal of Unwanted Medications

WEARE - 27 June 2016:  In an effort to provide another level of safety, today we are launching the Weare Police Department's Medication Disposal Program… A CONVENIENT DROP-OFF SITE FOR THE SAFE DISPOSAL OF UNWANTED MEDICATIONS! Those of you who had an opportunity to provide the much appreciated feedback on the “Citizen Survey Forms” we placed at the Town Hall played a direct role in this process. Of course, many thanks to all of those who offer suggestions during our shifts as we continue to work together towards a safer community!

Remember, medicine unsecured in the home can cause a number of concerns to include confusion and medication misuse, resulting in serious health implications for adults and children.  Medicine disposed of by flushing into the sewage system or placing into landfills can have serious environmental health consequences.

We received the box through a grant from CVS/pharmacy! The secure unit provides a safe and environmentally responsible way to dispose of unwanted or expired medication, including controlled substances. The unit is mounted in the police department lobby at (144 North Stark Highway). Drugs can be dropped off with no questions asked.
