Civil War Historian to Speak at Weare Historical Society Meeting The Weare Historical Society will host New Hampshire Civil War historican Steven Closs as speak for its anual potluck meeting on Friday, October 23. The free meeting and short program will be at the Wilson Room at the Congregational Church on Route 114 in Weare at 6 pm. Closs, a long-time New Hampshire resident, began his study of fallen New Hampshire Civil War soldiers in 1990, and it evolved into a book identifying and memorializing the sacrifice of 2, 036 men. Included in this work are the 14 Weare men who gave their last full measure of devotion for the Union.
