By Peggy Baily, Director, 26 August 2010: We have some great news for the food pantry!! So exciting! We have now opened a thrift shop in town, "Weare Community Thrift Shop" and all the proceeds from donations directly helps our food pantry. Also monetary donations may be made to Weare Food Pantry, c/o Weare Community Thrift Shop, 33C No. Stark Highway, Weare NH 03281.
This is also an effort to help those in need, through volunteerism in the Weare Community. We are hoping to get teens who need community service hours to volunteer and get involved in their community. We are currently searching for an artistic, John Stark student who needs community service hours, to paint a wall mural. We are also looking for a licensed and insured plumber who could install a sink for us, and an electrician who could help with a installing a stove for us. So if you know of anyone who can help, we would greatly appreciate it!
Weare Rescue has again pulled through for us during our Backpack Marathon. Together the community and Weare Rescue were able to complete 60 backpacks for needy families in Weare. Our goal was 35 and we received such a great response from the community that we were able to fill more. If anyone has a need we will gladly help them out! After all this is what it is all about, neighbor helping neighbor.
We also are in the process of a Business Profile Wall in which local businesses may advertise for a minimal monthly fee of a $10 donation. Also, another avenue for customers is to bring in items to sell and for a fee (25%) of their total item(s), they make an immediate donation to the Weare Food Pantry and should their items sell, great! If not they pick their item up in one month.
We are located at 33C North Stark Highway (next to Hollyhock Flowers and First Impressions Embroidery) in the Rte 114 Plaza and our hours are Wednesday through Friday 10 to 4 and Saturday 9 to 1.
Please spread the word and stop in and see what we have to offer and how we can help.
