The GoffstownToday.com Phantom Gourmet Team is out and about often every other week. A visit could
happen any time from mid-week to a weekend. Our Team is made up of 5 individuals and at least three at a minimum will be on hand for a review. We do announce who we are upon arrival. So far the team has enjoyed their work and looks forward to providing an experience for our viewers from the inside out. We often take photographs at the establishments we visit, and when possible present them either singularly or via video production.

Joan tells us about her visit to Putnam's Restaurant Visit Putnam's on line
Service:
Slow, but accommodating. Ordering was cumbersome and not everyone in our party got their food at the same time. Most were halfway through their dinners before the other half of us got our food. We strongly advise calling ahead with your order to avoid a long wait because of its size and staffing.
Atmosphere/Decor/Facilities:
Magoo's has been around a long time is has that quaint look of a roadside takeout stand. It is your basic roadside takeout place with some outdoor picnic benches. The area has been nicely improved recently with plantings and stonework enhancing both Magoo's and the neighboring landscaping company as well as the Goffstown's Rail Trail which runs between the two businesses.
Selection:
Fried seafood along with subs, hamburgers, hot dogs, and basic Italian/Greek fare. In addition, Magoo's offers ice cream.
Specialty of the House:
Fried seafood; however, they don not serve lemon as a condiment, a 'must' for a seafood place.
Presentation:
Typical takeout - styrofoam containers, etc. Our team thinks that fried foods should best be presented on paper in a paper bag to mitigate the cooking grease.
Value:
Good and the portions are substantial.
Summary:
if you are looking for a big fried portion of seafood Magoo's really delivers. The lobster roil special was excellent - lots of lobster and not drowning in mayonnaise. The scallops, fish and clams were great quality - 'fresh from the boat'; however, the breading could be a bit lighter. The fries and onion rings were particularly good. The coleslaw was a hit with our non-coleslaw reviewer; however, our slaw lovers would like some more flavor and crunch.

Our team awards three pumpkins! If you want great seafood without the the ocean view, Magoo's delivers! (6 August 2010)
The Phantom GoffstownToday.com Gourmet Team made a visit to Dimitri's Pizza & Restaurant located at 111 S. Stark Hwy. in Weare. Dimitri's has been in this location for about 20 years and other locations are found in Concord and around the State and all are family owned and operated. Hint, GO to Dimitri's.
Service: Fast and friendly.
Atmosphere/Decor/Facilities: Counter service with a large dining area. A great touch is the video games are well isolated. Clean and well lit, the kitchen was spotless and the restrooms passed our critical inspection.
Selection: Very typical: subs, pizza, calzones, salads and basic Italian fare. One reviewer was pleased that they serve Sam Adams.
Specialty of the House: Italian fare.
Presentation: A step above the typical pizza place with stainless utensils rather than plastic.
Value: Excellent
Summary: Each reviewer was very pleased with their selections. We tried the Hawaiian calzone (Italian for "drooping sack"), eggplant parmigiana with spaghetti, bubbly hot lasagna, fried chicken and French fries, and a classic cold Italian submarine sandwich.
For desert, we sampled the cannoli, chocolate cake, and baklava and were happy with our selections.
Very tasty, large portions, fresh ingredients, and cooked to perfection.

Out team awards four and four sevenths pumpkins! We would definitely go back again to try their pizza.
Goffstown - 15 June 2010: Our Phantom Gourmet Team made a surprise visit to Drumlin's Restaurant for lunch
today. The weather was perfect to enjoy some time on the deck with a nice light breeze. Our report and video are now posted below and our viewers can see what Executive Chef Todd McGovern has to offer. One thing the Team does say is don't delay, without hesitation GO TO DRUMLIN'S at Stonebridge ASAP. GO TO DRUMLIN'S ASAP!
June 16, 2010 — The GoffstownToday.com Phantom Gourmet Team paid a visit to Drumlin's Restaurant at the Stonebridge Country Club on Tuesday 15 June 2010. Our Team came to the conclusion easily and swiftly that this is a destination of priority. Service = EXCELLENT : Quality of Food = EXCELLENT : Menu Choices = EXCELLENT : Menu Specials = EXCELLENT = Dining location choices indoor / outdoor = EXCELLENT - Cost to dine - VERY APPROPRIATELY PRICED - It just does not get better than this visit for a casual mid day lunch. Dinner simply has to be just as good, if not better. Our greeting by Jason, the General Manager and Todd the Executive Chef prior to the departure prompted us to take things a little further. We asked for an interview simply because if we say Drumlin's is the perfect destination, our viewers need to know just a little bit more. Jason and Todd were glad to provide some video coverage, which we have not done before, and learning of their recent Award Winning Chowder, and why it's so good to eat at Drumlin's directly from these two individuals is a must. Our Highest Recommendation goes out to Drumlin's and it's Staff. JUST GO AND ENJOY DRUMLIN'S TODAY and the surroundings as well. How about some golf too?
GOFFSTOWN GOURMET REVIEW - Ollie's

Our waitress was "Alexa". Although the staff seemed to be at full compliment and there were plenty of open tables while we were there, the table service was friendly but a bit slow.
From the daily specials board: the plate of fried clams and French fries were cooked just like we like them and the cream of broccoli soup was very good, could have been hotter. From the diner menu: the baked stuffed scallops were tender, buttery and delicious with a light stuffing that did not overpower the scallops. The baked potato was dry and not very warm however, and we had to send back the mashed potato to be heated up some more. The salads were fresh and crisp: however, the coleslaw was too juicy. The Blackened 12oz Sirloin was ordered med-rare and arrived well done, however the seasoning was quite tasty. The salmon dish was way over cooked; however, our guest gourmet was too timid to send it back. The baked stuffed shrimp had lots of breading; however, the shrimp were rather rubbery. Overall, we were not overly excited with the food during this visit. Perhaps we came at a bad time, and we did announce our visit was to do a review for GoffstownToday.com an on line publication.
For dessert, the Kahlua cheesecake, pineapple up-side-down cake, apple pie al-a-mode and strawberry shortcake were all very yummy and not a crumb was left on the desert plates.
Ollie's is family orientated and comfortable, lighting a bit dim however blinds were drawn half way due to the afternoon sun. The layout makes for fairly quiet dining and is separate from the bar area. The women's bathroom was messy with cleaning products on the counter.
Presentation was nicely done and the amount of food adequate. This early evening, the dining areas were about 1/3 full and there appeared to be plenty of staff upon arrival. Greeting was cheerful at the hostess station and we were quickly brought to our table for six. Although we had announced who we were and why we were there, throughout the meal, the table service was just adequate, even though the dining room was not busy.
Value was just average, but we crave more than just good for our hard earned money. Tonight, something was out of sorts and we felt a return visit in the future would be a good idea as Ollie's is well established in the "Go to" restaurants.
We award Ollie's three and one sevenths pumpkins for our experience.

S
ervice: Our waitress, Colleen, was very friendly. She was extremely accommodating and explained everything in detail. Separate checks were made available without a blink of an eye.
Our Selections: For an appetizer, we enjoyed chips and salsa....chips are home made and wonderful...the salsa was chunky but a little too spicy hot for all the folks at the table, although likely perfect in the pub.
Atmosphere/Decor: Loved the atmosphere....open and bright, yet homey. The unisex bathrooms were tidy and clean. On a sunny day, we suggest a table on the south end of the building, and a visit to the Pub any time it's open. We plan a return visit to the Pub.
Presentation: Like stepping into days gone past for a relaxing home cooked meal...like "Mom" use to make. We would return and would also get take out. It is easy to get to, very nice and friendly people, and we like the fact the WTG is active on facebook. Become a fan today! While you are at it, become a fan of the GoffstownToday.com facebook page as well.
Value: A wonderful relaxing casual lunch without being pricey.....
Summary: Casual informal dining. We will definitely go back again. One of the reviewers says "I would think people like me have probably driven by the place 100 times and never stopped in because they didn't associate it with good food and drinks. It will make my drive to Pats Peak a little more satisfying, especially on cold winter nights when I can get some yummy homemade soup." The Weare-Towne Grille is a must visit destination. Don't just drive by anymore. Show up with the entire family, meet friends and say hello to a wonderful staff
Drum Roll Please: To The Weare-Towne Grille, the Goffstown Gourmet awards four and three-sevenths pumpkins out of five total! Highly recommended and we will return.... Just trying to figure out if it's going to be for dinner, breakfast or a visit to the Pub. Weare, you are so fortunate, patronize the WTG today!
The Phantom Goffstown Gourmet report:
Service: Our waitress Georgia was wonderful, attended to our every need, and made us genuinely feel welcome. The temperature in the restaurant was just right and we were able to get separate checks (not every restaurant will do that.)
Selection: (Seasonal provisions are available) We loved everything about our lunches. The clam chowder was
thick, creamy and the clams were the right size and soft not hard. The soup-of-the-day, creme of mushroom was tasty' however, the crab cake appetizer was not as moist as we like it. The grilled salmon over a tossed salad was excellent ("it was cooked exactly like I like it") , the salad with the scampi shrimp was just enough and very enjoyable especially with their homemade thousand island dressing. ("perfectly battered haddock
and outstanding French Fries"). The fish and chips were the best ever Healthy, fresh and very filling. The grilled fish was perfect and very hot, flavored of an excellent standard. The rice with the fish was warm to cool and firm. My preference is not so firm and the glazed carrots were mouth watering. The unsweetened ice tea was extremely thirst quenching and our glasses was never empty for more than a few moments. The deserts and coffee were the perfect compliments to a great meal.
Atmosphere/Decor: Urbane yet a comfortable eatery away from the hustle and bustle of the city nestled
nearby in the country. We loved the atmosphere and are thrilled it is so close to Goffstown.
Specialty of the House: Everything is made from scratch and many items can be prepared gluten free and organic.
Presentation: Elegant, yet permissibly casual.
Value: A wonderful lunch, fantastic service and very enjoyable; a visit which offered a relaxing meal and more.
Summary: Upscale, yet casual gourmet dining and Damians has earned our desire to return, whether for lunch or dinner. If Lunch is any reflection of what Damians can do for dinner, then certainly go. We will return!
Website: www.Damiansotr.com is slightly out of date, but don't be concerned. The menu changes with the season and you will not be disappointed.
To Damion's, the Phantom Goffstown Gourmet Team awards four and four-sevenths pumpkins out of five total!

Service: Our waitress, Iris, was very accommodating and knowledgeable. Top notch from start to finish.
Atmosphere/Decor: Just the right mixture of old country inn and tasteful updates. Three levels offer a coziness of a place of this size. Old photographs of the area and tasteful displays of antiques introduces a very comfortable dining experience.
Selection: Sophisticated without being overpowering. Clam chowder – its all about the clams and the base, potatoes and seasoning did not overpower. We tried and liked the huge fresh scallops, the Reuben sandwich, and a unique cod tempura. By far, the best was a cottage pie – a baked ground lamb, whipped potato, and corn casserole. The onion soup was delightful. We also ordered a hamburger which was tasty, yet when compared to the balance of all else in front of us, we felt a flavor adjustment was in need for the hamburger. It was missing something, just not sure what. The desert tray easily overcame resistance and the selections were wonderful.
Specialty of the House: The GG’s favorite was the absolutely sinful Guinness Float – vanilla gelato floating on stout in a chocolate-rimmed glass which moderated in flavor with each sip, yet just delightful from top to bottom.
Presentation: Elegant, yet permissibly casual.
Value: Very good and a very enjoyable, a visit which offered a relaxing lunch in a quaint atmosphere of perfection.
Summary: Casual gourmet dining. To Kiki’s Restaurant, the Goffstown Gourmet awards four and four-sevenths pumpkins out of five total!
Thank you Julie, Jason, Joe, Iris and a special thank you to owner Kirsten Montgomery for bringing such a fine eatery to the Community of New Boston. We will gladly return and highly recommend your Restaurant.
Goffstown Gourmet Restaurant Review: The Village Trestle, Goffstown
Restaurant Reviews by the Goffstown Gourmet, a regular column for goffstowntoday.com. The Goffstown Gourmet, disguised as a group of friends, weekly visit eating local establishments unannounced, eat and write about the experience. This week, the
GG began its gastronomical adventure at the Village Trestle, 25 Main Street, Goffstown: From the outside, "The VT" or "The Trestle", looks, like, well, like a bar. Once inside, it still looks like, well, like a bar. Looks are deceiving! The GG came for the food and left very satisfied.
Service: Cheery, prompt and very willing to accommodate. No unsweetened ice tea on the menu, no problem, they whipped up a batch anyway.
Atmosphere/Decor: Very relaxed and vintage eclectic. A matter of taste, well, like a bar with pool tables and dartboards.
Selection: Sturdy fare. The soup of the day, French Onion tasted as good as it looked and the salad fixings were especially fresh. The hamburgers were excellent. One of GG party lamented that the VT did not serve desert, well, like it is a bar, not a cruise ship.
Specialty of the House: Saturday's two-for-one hamburger special is a superb meal.
Presentation: On a sturdy service with clean stainless utensils and the paper napkins compliment the lack of unnecessary garnishments.
Value: Outstanding! Well under $7.50 a person with a good tip and tax.
Summary: A family owned and operated establishment soon to enter their second decade in business, the Village Trestle will see the GG again. To the VT staff and VT owners, Steve and Lorraine Pascucci, the Goffstown Gourmet awards four and six-sevenths pumpkins!
