Now that Monday morning has come, I have had the opportunity to speak with both Ray Labore and Sarah Lebrun to hear both sides of the story and have concluded that it was a misunderstanding between Ray and Sarah Lebrun. I have also be assured that Sarah will be correcting the information on the website this morning showing apples being compared to apples. I have bulleted the facts that have lead me to this conclusion.

-Ray shared that he did indeed have a phone conversation with Sarah one hour before the Newspaper’s deadline and stated that the number for the default budget in our scenarios included the $610,000 being returned in it and not in the budget’s recommended number. The reason the board never added the $610,000 in the budget committee’s number is that we never wanted to make any alterations to the number recommended by the budget committee. We did provide different several scenarios with our numbers. These are the same numbers that we have been sharing with the public since 10 days before the deliberative session.

-Sarah shared in our conversation this morning that she was confused by all the numbers during the phone conversation last week and Ray confirmed this fact.

-I had to correct Sarah before on the budgets numbers on a previous occasion and Stacy had to the same on another occasion when she was fact checking.

-The school district did not calculate the difference in the tax rate or effect on a $250,000 home for the article. This was done by Sarah Lebrun. Had she confirmed these numbers it would have triggered someone to correct her conclusion

-We provided these numbers to her since the week before the deliberative session and she has never published the error that occurred last week previously

-Each time Sarah runs an article she requests the spreadsheets and information again. Appears she has not kept notes from previous phone conversations. I had two phone conversations adding up to approximately 45 minutes explaining our scenarios and information we have been sharing approximately four weeks ago and again three weeks ago.

-The person at the newspaper writing the story, proofing it, and fact checking is the same individual can lead to such a scenario.

I do not believe Ray or Sarah meant to share any incorrect numbers but ultimately apples were compared to oranges. The voters guide sent out with the town’s contains no incorrect information.

For a member of the budget committee to say that the board or myself is intentionally providing incorrect information is a total lie. Neither myself or the board was consulted on this article or were aware they were writing another article. The Goffstown School Board as not orchestrated a movement in the public to support the default budget over the recommended budget committee's number since it was moved to the ballot at deliberative session.
