SAU 19 announces participation in the NH Assistive Technology Initiative

SAU 19 is pleased to announce Goffstown and New Boston School Districts’ participation in the New Hampshire
Assistive Technology Initiative (NHATI). NHATI is a knowledge-development, information dissemination and
technical assistance project offered by the NH Department of Education Bureau of Special Education in partnership with
CAST Professional Learning. The overall goal of NHATI is increase the implementation of effective practices to
address NH students’ assistive technology needs in education. Mary Lane, NHDOE Educational Consultant, remarked,
“This project is designed to continue our work in providing equity and access for all students in the state of New

SAU 19’s application to participate in this two-year statewide project was accepted in November, allowing 14 educators
across SAU 19 schools to participate. Our NHATI leadership group includes regular and special education teachers,
speech language providers, media and technology specialists, behavior consultant and administrators. These dedicated
and dynamic staff began their 2016-17 NHATI commitment this week by joining 7 teams from other districts and
private providers, attending 2 days of professional development lead by members the Quality Indicators for Assistive
Technology (QIAT) Leadership Team. We look forward to the enhancement of SAU 19’s organizational, material and
structural capacities to better serve Goffstown and New Boston’s students.
