The Friends of Goffstown Land Conservation (FOGLC) will host a guided hike up North Uncanoonuc Mountain in celebration of the 75 th anniversary of the mountain becoming the town’s first land conservation project. The hike is schedule for CORRECTION- Rain Date Sunday November 15 Hikers will meet at the Goffstown Town Hall parking lot at 9:30 am.
It was on November 13, 1934 that the Goffstown Fire Precinct (now called the Water Precinct) purchased 90 acres of land encompassing the summit of the north mountain for the sum of $1,000. Half of the funds came from the Fire Precinct with the other half provided by the Society for the Protection of New Hampshire Forests (SPNHF).
The anniversary hike will be approximately 2 miles, ascending via the White Dot Trail and descending via the Carriage Road Trail. The hike will be guided by FOGLC member and naturalist Jason Sachs with additional support from SPNHF staff and members of the Piscataquog Land Conservancy.
