NEW BOSTON 11 July 2017: New Boston Recreation opened its CONCERTS ON THE COMMON with the Karen Morgan Pony Express Band. It's been two years since Karen played on the Common and she also noted that years back her band played even prior to the building of the Gazebo. Visitors were welcomed with Strawberry Shortcake provided by the Community Church of New Boston. Reverend Robert "Woody" Woodland stated that all proceeds from sales would be donated to a needy family in town currently undergoing some difficult times. Mike Sindoni, Director of the New Boston Parks and Recreation Department opened the evening with general announcements and that the folks from the New Boston Rail Trail would be providing some great food from the grill as well as snacks and beverages.
The weather cooperated quite nicely with a comfortable evening of clear skies and a very light breeze. Sindoni also mentioned that the original opening date was postponed due to poor weather include thuderstorms that passed through the area. As a result, the Freese Brothers Big Band has been rescheduled to perform Thursday 10 August 2017 at 6pm. The crowd was anxious for tonight's music and were very appreciative as adults sat and children danced and played in front of the Gazebo. Several other bands will perform throughout the summer and updates can be found on the New Boston Recreation website.
