New Boston - 25 August 2016 by New Boston Fire Chief, Daniel MacDonald: “Tonight, I had the honor of presenting two life-saving awards to Officer Stephen Case and Officer Matthew Koziol for their actions in June and July of this year.” Both Officers responded to separate calls of citizens who were unconscious and not breathing. Upon arrival on scene, each officer deployed the AED equipped in their cruiser which resulted in a shock to the patient followed by additional resuscitation efforts.
With the outstanding partnership with the members of the New Boston Fire Department, each citizen survived their medical event.
Tonight, one of the survivors presented lifesaving pins to each of the emergency responders who responded to the call.
The second survivor was out of state and was represented by his son-in-law who presented life saving pins to each of the responders.
As Chief, I am incredibly proud of each member of the New Boston Police and Fire Department for their heroic actions in saving two lives.

RELATED STORY: Today, NBFD put our new ambulance in service. The ambulances run the most calls per year for our department as our call volume continues to grow. It is important to have up to date equipment and apparatus to provide the best service for the community we serve and its citizens. Thank you to the ambulance committee who spent countless hours working with vendors to put together this truck which will serve this community as our primary ambulance for almost a decade!
