Senior Citizens: Do you get the Center of Gravity Gazette in your mail? This is our monthly newsletter which contains information about programs and events in the community. Contact us to be added to the mailing list. Foot Care Clinic: Usually the first Thursday of each month at the New Boston Community Church for a fee. Appointments are required and can be made by calling (800) 541-4145. Senior Lunches are on Thursdays at the New Boston Central School at 10:50am when school is in session. Lunch cost is $2 (or whatever you can afford). The menu and more information are in the Center of Gravity Gazette or on the school website. ZENgevity: Body, Brain, Balance -Are you ready to change your life, to stay independent, get energized, be strong, be happy and live longer? This fitness program is a combination of gentle and joyful movements designed for ages 50 and better; Open to all fitness levels to exercise mind, body, and spirit. Class is at the Old Engine House on Wednesday, 9:30-10:30am. The next session will start in September. Drop-ins welcome for $5 per class.
Yoga: Reduce stress and pain, increase flexibility and strength and learn better breathing techniques. Relax your mind and strengthen your body on Monday at the White Buildings from 6:30-7:30pm. The current session began on June 26 and runs through August 14. Registration is open at our office or online for the next session. Drop-ins welcome for $12 per class if there is space.
Barre Class- This class uses elements from Ballet, Pilates, and Yoga for a muscle toning workout that is low impact. Great for stretching and strengthening your muscles! Please bring a yoga mat and water. Classes are held in the White Buildings. Our current session runs August 2 ‑ August 23. This class if full. Please Register for the wait list on line or in person at the Recreation Office.
Foxwoods Trip- Ride to Foxwoods in style. Cost is $30 per person if you register before August 15th. Registration after August 15th is $35. This fee includes transportation (on a nice comfy coach bus), a $15 slot play and a $10 food voucher or free lunch buffet. There will be Bingo and prizes on the bus ride. The coach bus will leave the New Boston Central School parking lot at 8:00 AM and will return around 7:30 PM. Space is limited so register early! You must be at least 21 years old to register for this trip. No refunds will be given after you register.
Adult Softball- For Adults 18+. Join us on the softball field (field behind the town hall). Wednesday Evenings at 5:30pm. Games start on June 28th and run through August 30th. Program is free but please pre-register. We will pick two teams based on who shows up to play each week. Come and play when you can...no weekly commitment. NB Recreation will provide the equipment, just bring a glove! This is a casual pick up type of program so no need to commit to the whole summer. Can't make it until 6pm, no problem, join us when you can. There is no cost, but you do need to register with the Recreation Department.
Kids had fun in our Golf and Archery classes this Summer. We hope to offer both of these programs in the Fall.
We had great turn outs for our Soccer and Softball Camps in July. Look for both camps to return next summer!
Tennis: FREE beginner lessons for ages 5-8. Thursdays in August. August 3, 10 and 17 at 9am.This is NOT a drop-off activity. Parents/Guardians should come prepared to jump in for games, help toss balls and encourage. It is 45 minutes of fast-paced games and high-success activities geared toward general athletic skills and tennis stroke production. Pre-registration is required. Register online or at the Recreation office.
Camp Coolio: Camp Coolio is in full swing. We offer 8-weeks of summer fun for kids ages 6-12. We go on field trips, do arts & crafts, reading, fun projects, sports/games and theme weeks. We have 3 weeks of camp left in August. Camp runs Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 5:30pm. Register by the day or by the week! Registration Fee is $25. Fees start at $40 per day or $165 per week for residents. Please call the office to register or be placed on a waiting list, as most days remaining, are full.
After School Program: This program runs in conjunction with the school calendar and provides a safe haven for your children until 6:00 pm. The program is in the White Buildings, to the right of New Boston Central School. The After-School program is for children in grades K* - 6th (*Afternoon kindergarten students only)
The Director and Assistant Director meet the children in the school at gymnasium and walk them to the White Buildings. After attendance, the children can participate in a variety of supervised and organized activities, inside and outside, including homework help, crafts, games, sports and more. Additional supervision is provided by our counselors, who are high school students.
We are currently looking for After School Counselors. You must be at least 16 years old. Please contact the Rec Dept. for an application.
If you are interested in the 2017-2018 school year please contact us. Our enrollment is full but we have started a wait list. The fee for the 2017/18 school year is $205 per month.
Basketball: This program is for boys in grades K-12 and girls in grades K - 8
Grades K-2 play on Saturday mornings from December thru February at the NBCS Gym.
Fee for the season $55
Grades 3-8 have 1-2 practices during the week beginning in November and have games on Saturdays from December thru February. They practice at NBCS Gym & play home and away games.
Fee for this season $85
Boys Grades 9-12 have 2 practices per week beginning in November and have games on weekends from December thru March. They practice at NBCS Gym & play home & away games.
Fee for the season $85
There may be travel team options for some age groups, for an added fee.

Gymnastics: This program runs Sept – May of the school year. Classes are scheduled on Tuesdays and Wednesday between 2:30 – 5pm. We are currently looking for an assistant to help with this class. As soon as we have staff in place we will open registration. If you have a back ground in gymnastics and are interested in assisting, please apply at the recreation office.
Cheerleading: Registration begins Sept 5
Parent Information meeting scheduled for Saturday Oct 14 @ 9-10am at NBCS Gym for registered participants.
New Boston Cheerleading has lots to cheer about as it continues its 10th successful season! The squad is made up of kids in grades K - 6. Session 1 = Saturdays, October 21 - November 18 at NBCS Gym.
Grades K-2: 8:30-9:15am - $35.
Grades 3-6: 9:30-11am - $70
Outdoor Movie Night: The Lego Batman Movie – August 25, 8pm
Bring a chair, blanket or sit in the grandstand to watch a FREE family friendly film on a big inflatable screen. Snack/drink concession starts at 7:15pm and the movie will start at 8pm. Rain date is Monday, August 28th.
Movie Synopsis: A cooler-than-ever Bruce Wayne must deal with the usual suspects as they plan to rule Gotham City, while discovering that he has accidentally adopted a teenage orphan who wishes to become his sidekick. Rated PG
Summer Concerts: Free concerts, on the town common. Bring a chair or blanket. The Rail Trail will have a concession stand with grilled hotdogs and burgers, drinks and candy. All concerts are 6-8pm.

2017 Discount Tickets- We have discount tickets available for Water Country, Six Flags New England and Funtown/Splashtown. Save anywhere from $8-$22 per ticket! Call our office for more details.
