Another Giant Pumpkin Weigh-off and Regatta has come and gone, but the memories of this weekend will be with us for a long, long time. We’d like to thank everyone who played a part in the success of this weekend --- first to our great partners, the NH Giant Pumpkin Growers Association who each year bring us the stars of the show. A big, warm hug to our Regatta boaters who braved really awful weather to sit in very small pumpkins: Selectman Scott Gross, Fire Chief Rich O’Brien, Police Chief Pat Sullivan, Kimberly Peace from the Conservation Commission, Pam Young from Goffstown News, Mike Lee from Mountain View Middle School and Mountain View Partnership, Mike French from Goffstown Rotary Club, Brian Hanson from Granite State Environmental, and our own Karen Henderson representing Goffstown Main Street. Congratulations to Regatta winner Lori Davis, Goffstown Lions Club. We also thank the businesses on Main Street who provided activities to engage our guests; the non-profit vendors who lined our sidewalks; the Goffstown Police, Fire, and Public Works Departments along with Town Hall and the Board of Selectmen; all of our sponsors including Unique Ford and TD Bank, our lead sponsors; everyone who participated in a contest, the art show-off, and games; our talent and cook-off judges Pierre Pouliot, Dick Gagnon, Sandy Whipple, Reta MacGregor, Selectman Vivian Blondeau, and Sue Bonner; and all those who attended. Thank you, Goffstown Today, for giving us such great coverage!
But, we cannot thank enough the volunteers of Main Street who collectively donated over 900 hours of time to this weekend --- from planning, to building the pumpkin eater and catapults, to implementation, and finally to cleaning up long after our guests have left. You all represent the best of community spirit! Thank you, Jim Beauchemin; Gale and Peter Cheever; Brenda and Dennis Letourneau; Judy DesMeules; Tammy Gross; Nina Duval; Reta MacGregor; Judy McLean; Tom Wright; Sue Cannella; Peggy Hatfield; Gail Dodd; Peter Osiecki; Polly Martel; Susan Osburn; Bev, Kate, and Mike Powden; Bryan Fournier, the Walton family –Theresa, Tiffany, Nate, Bob, and Bill; Ian and Eileen McAlary; Carl Quiram; JP Michaud; John Denoncourt and son; Allen Brown; Tom Mulligan; Kevin Grady; Nicole Mooney; Cheryl Elliott; Kim Rexford; Tom and Martha Hart; Gil Perez; Karen Henderson; Larry Brown; Shannon Gable; our youth volunteers Brandon, Jessica, Courtney, Briana, Blair, Lauren, Emily; Tanya Orleans; Lowell Von Ruden; and three of the hardest working individuals you could ever hope to work with: Mike Walton, Bruce Normand, and Robert Demers. These three are always the first to arrive, and the last to leave!
We hope all of our guests enjoyed the weekend. Our goal is to introduce you to our Downtown, and we hope you will come back often now that you have seen all that we have to offer.
