“The Majestic Theatre will present The New England Community Theatre Premiere of High Fidelity”
About the show:
High Fidelity A Musical Comedy By Amanda Green, Tom Kitt, David Lindsay-Abaire. When Brooklyn record store owner Rob Gordon finds himself unexpectedly dumped, his life takes a music-filled turn toward the introspective. Based on the popular novel by Nick Hornby, High Fidelity follows Rob as he struggles to discover how his relationship went awry, and strives to change his life in order to win back his sweetheart Laura. With memorable characters and a rock-and-roll score, this homage to music geek culture explores love, heartbreak, and the power of the perfect soundtrack.
“…a musical that celebrates the power of pop culture with wit, verve and a killer beat.” –Frank Rizzo, Variety
“If you ever rocked out on air-guitar or crooned to your hairbrush in the privacy of your own room — and who hasn’t? — this show’s for you.” –Mary Shen Barnidge, Windy City Times “The score, never dull, pulls influence from genres as divergent as gospel, rap, rock and even the sounds of a sitar make a cameo.” –Joseph Erbentraut, Edge “Throughout, the tunes are lively and the music is loud, raucous and in your face.” –Beverly Friend, Chicago Critic “David Lindsay-Abaire’s book is polished and devilishly wry.” –David Cote, Time Out New York. “This show’s ability to evoke commonality in such disparate groups as rock lovers and musical lovers is as admirable as it is rare.” –Matthew Murray, TalkinBroadway.com. Majestic’s High Fidelity is directed by Mike Wood of Litchfield, Musical Direction by Keith Belanger of Derry, and Choreography by Jen Sassak of Nashua and stars an ensemble cast.
