Goffstown - 29 October 2012: Goffstown Selectman and former 7 year Goffstown School Board Member, Scott Gross was interviewed this morning by host, Rich Girard of the Girard at Large radio program. Gross agrees there has been a Leadership problem for many years at the Mountain View Middle School and with staff, right up to Superintendent Stacy Buckley's job performance.
Gross also expresses his concerns via negative feedback from others with regard to matters at the Mountain View Middle School (MVMS). "It's a Leadership issue at the school", says Gross. Hunt was supposed to be an interim principal and he has been there for over five years now. Gross admits to being on the School Board when Hunt was hired for the interim principal position as former principal, Rose Colby had retired.
Gross further states that the Mountain View Middle School is underachieving.
Gross tries to refresh his memory during the interview and says Hunt was brought in to oversee some changes, concerns with curriculum and leadership issues.
Regarding the New Boston Survey, when asked by Girard, Gross says he has seen the survey and feels surveys like this are feeding frenzies. Gross claims to have spoken with people in Goffstown, New Boston and Dunbarton and he confirms there is dissatisfaction with leadership.
Gross says he would like to see Hunt resign, as it would be the honorable thing to do. "He is a distraction and impediment" and goes on to say that "Hunt is a road block!"
Girard says Buckley has let this drag out for years and the Goffstown School Board has been willing to go along with it, and that Buckley and the School Board do not follow the proper process.
Girard - Why does Buckley need a study for MVMS and staff? Gross's response is that he feels Buckley should have performed her own report and it is what she is paid to do. There are problems with staff he says and Gross is comfortable with bringing in an outside consultant so that current and past employees may be interviewed.
Gross says he is not up to speed on the School Board Vice Chair, Diane McCarthy being an employee of a bidder and that former School Board Chairman, Kieth Allard denied distribution of complaints and removed them from mail boxes, and Gofftown employs a Superintendent circumventing proper procedures, and then recommends WestEd for the Study contract, all without providing any information to the School Board. Gross says he is not up to speed on these matters.
Perhaps Scott Gross should begin reading GoffstownToday.com so that he won't remain in failure to get the full scope of MVMS news from us and/or the Girard at Large Radio Program. It is obvious!
Girard asked if Buckley's job will be evaluated by WestEd? Gross, "yes".
Gross is not an advocate of Ben Hampton's study offer and reverted back to stating that Stacy Buckley should have done a study and did not do so, as it is part of her job to perform such work.
