The Greater Goffstown Community Association is interested in sponsoring an After-School Fitness Program for 6 weeks beginning on Tuesday September 29th from 3:00 - 4:45 and would be held in the high school workout room. It is open to any high school aged youth. The maximum in a program is 20 kids. There is an $85 charge for the 6 weeks. For those completing the 6 week program the GGCA would refund them $25.
Following is a description of what is planned for the program. It will be run by Joe Goodwin from NH Powerhouse Fitness.
For week 1 I will start with an introduction of myself and about why weight training is important, the benefits of weight training, the type of training we will be doing and setting them up in their first workout. They will also be tested this session so that on the final session we can do a re-test and see their results.
Week 2-5 will consist of different stages of circuit training including super sets and hypertrophy. Each session will be built of certain routines that will be explained in detail and instructed for correct form. After each session, they will be given a packet that will consist of that workout so that they can continue on training after this after school program is done. So by the end of the 6 weeks they will all have full programs that will help them achieve their goals.
Week 6 will be the final workout which will include the same test as done in week 1 so that they can see their progress.
All sessions will be done in the weight room and will consist of weight training, circuit training, plyometrics, agility and flexibility so that all students will receive a complete full rounded workout that they most likely have never had before. The goal of this program is to teach the students how to train and workout properly whether their goal is to lose some weight, tone up or put on muscle. Incorrect form can cause injuries and lead to other problems, so this program will help them learn the correct exercises and the correct ways to do them.
