Goffstown - 27 April 2017:
Hello from the Friends of the Goffstown Public Library, and thank
you for your past support of the Goffstown Public Library, Friends'
activities, and/or for volunteering for Library or fundraiser events.
Meet Us on May 10Today, the Friends of the Goffstown Public Library are advertising a May 10, Dessert and Beverage Meeting, at Stark Hall, 6:35 to 7:30. The yearly public revenue and expenditure report will be given for the Friends' nonprofit activities. And we want to chat with supporters, to enjoy the tasty treats, and, hopefully, to gain some volunteers. Museum Pass Program
In a quick update, the Friends of the Goffstown Public Library continue its primary mission to support the Library Museum Pass Program
which enables patrons to reduced or free entry fees to diverse
institutes of art, history, science, and nature in NH and Boston. The
Friends just expanded the passes to the Children's Museum of NH in Dover
and added the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. Success of the
annual June and October book sales and the November “Once Upon a Pie”
event had enabled the Friends to allocate all money for all museum
passes in 2016 and has again in 2017. Thank you for your support. We Support the GPL
The Friends also continue to support the Human Library, Gingerbread
House construction, summer guest performers, educational games and
exploratory activities for the Children's Room, and in the last couple
of years upgraded the public audio system, purchased a sofa for the
children's area, and purchased comfortable folding chairs and chair
storage cart. No More Membership Fees!
Success in fundraising has encouraged that the Friends eliminate
membership fees and has allowed us to buy five 10'x20' tents, tarps, and
tables to utilize for the Book Sales. The Friends are in great shape in
equipment to continue fundraising activities. We have revived the “Once
Upon a Pie” fundraiser and added friendly competition for the best pie
between Town Departments. Currently, the Police Department holds the
annual "Best Pie" plaque. We Need YOU
In addition to the updates, this email is to communicate with potential
supporters and, hopefully, to engage volunteers for upcoming events.
Right now, the Friends are a small group that can plan and organize, but
we need volunteers for the organizing tasks like setting up tents and
tables and transferring and sorting books. In the week before the June
Book Sale, the Friends will need volunteers for 2-3 hour shifts to set
up the sale. Join Us!
The Friends are drafting a spring and fall newsletter and beginning to
create email communication to distribute monthly meeting minutes. It
would be exciting to increase monthly meeting membership, but,
critically, we need to increase volunteer hours. The newsletter and
minutes would enable the Friends to communicate about events to support
the Library and to advertise volunteer needs. If you've received
this email from a friend or family member, please sign up for the
newsletter, or download a membership form at www.goffstownfriends.com
To facilitate our endeavor
to create improved communication about
Friends' events, please consider being a member. There is no membership
fee, but by joining, and through our spring and fall email newsletters,
it will enable the Friends to reach more people to advertise upcoming
events and volunteer needs.
