Goffstown Main Street Hosts Uncommon Art Festival
Goffstown - Goffstown’s Main Street Program is hosting its 8th Annual Uncommon Art on the Common, Saturday, August 6, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event features the works of over 30 area artists and artisans with booths along the length of Main Street. Local galleries, shops, and cafes also feature artwork and will be open for business throughout the day.
“We invite the public to see how creative their friends and neighbors are,” said event organizer, Peggy Hatfield, board member of Goffstown Main Street Program. “There is such talent here, and we’re proud to be able to show it off here on Main Street.” There will be painters, photographers, wood turners, fiber and glass artists, and potters for patrons to visit with and purchase from. In addition, there will be a hands-on portion where guests can show off their own talents.
Registrations are still being taken for booth space. Artists are asked to download a registration packet from www.goffstownmainstreet.org. First-time attendees are asked to submit photographs of their work for peer review. There is a fee for booth space.
General admission to the festival is free, as is parking. Follow the festival on Facebook, or email firstname.lastname@example.org for details.
Goffstown Seeks Artists for Uncommon Art Festival
Each year, hundreds of patrons attend the event to view and purchase the works of over 30 artists.
According to organizers, patrons come to meet with and speak to the artists in a friendly atmosphere that is large enough to have a wide-variety of work and small enough to not feel overwhelming. “We have a sizable contingent of returning artists each year,” said Ann Trainor Domingue, one of the event planners. “We’re proud of that record because it shows we can consistently host patrons who end up making connections with the artists and frequently make purchases.” Artists are encouraged to bring projects to work on while at the festival so that guests may see the process up close.
Registration packets are available at www.goffstownmainstreet.org or by calling 603.497.9933. First-time attendees are asked to submit photos or links to websites for peer review.
