Goffstown Post #16 opened NH State Tourney play against Laconia Post #1 at Holman Stadium in Nashua, NH. This game was postponed from Friday night due to rain. Goffstown beat Derrick Sylvester, one of the top pitchers in the state, to advance to Sunday's 9am winner's bracket game vs. Rochester. Sylvester, a Northeast-10 All-Rookie, who led the Penmen starters in ERA, took the loss while allowing 6 earned runs over 7 innings. He walked 6 while striking out 5 and allowing 7 hits. Mike Bisceglia earned his 4th win of the season while allowing just 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 6 over seven innings. Eddie Dobrowski had a 2-run homer for Laconia in the loss. Josh LaFond, Alex Hickey, and Ryan Beal each had 2 hits for Goffstown. LaFond scored twice, Hickey knocked in two runs, and Ryan Beal added an RBI. Bisceglia helped his own cause with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI's in the game, including a ground rule double over the left field fence in the 3rd inning. Brad York perfectly executed a suicide squeeze scoring pinch runner, Rob Hunt to give Post #16 a five run lead in the 8th inning. Jake Glauser followed with a triple to the base of the fence in right center, scoring Pat Naughton who walked in his pinch-hit appearance. Goffstown improved to 13-3 overall this season.
