Weare - 23 June 2017: Join falconer, raptor rehabilitator, and educator Jane Kelly, along with two of her live raptors, on Monday, July 17, at 7pm at the Weare Public Library for an intimate peek into the world of these amazing birds. Kelly rehabilitates birds of prey for the Epping-based rehab center On The Wing. She has been interested in bird rescue since moving 10 dead owls off of Rte. 101 over a two-month period, all hit by cars on the shoulder of the highway. She volunteered at a wildlife center where she started in rehabilitation and eventually worked in education with raptors, mammals and turtles. Yearning to gain more knowledge of raptors, she took up the sport of falconry.
Jane has partnered with Tim and Selvi Lampman, of Veterinary Emergency and Surgery Hospital of Brentwood, NH. In their state of the art hospital, injured birds receive emergency care any time, day or night, in hopes of getting these birds back into the wild.
This program is free and open to the public.
