Dunbarton Police Investigation Brush Fire over 4th July Weekend

Dunbarton, N.H. – 5 July 2016: The Dunbarton Police and Fire Departments are investigating a brush fire that was discovered around 6 PM on Sunday, July 3rd in the remote area of the Kuncanowet Town Forest and Conservation Area near Gorham Pond. The fire scorched around one acre of remote woodlands. Dunbarton, Weare, Bow, Hopkinton, Goffstown and New Boston Fire Departments battled the fire on July 3rd and 4th.

A witness reported seeing a red truck and a white van or SUV parked in the Kuncanowet Town Forest parking area at the end of Holiday Shore Drive around 5 PM on Saturday, July 2nd. The vehicles were seen leaving the area around 4 PM on Sunday, July 3rd. An older model beige sedan was also seen in the parking area. Initial investigation has revealed that the fire started and spread from an illegal bonfire. There was also trash left at the scene.
