To the Editor,
The Board of Directors of Crispin’s House is very pleased to extend our sincerest thanks to the Goffstown Junior Baseball Board of Directors and their organization for hosting our 10th Annual One-Pitch-Slow-Pitch Softball Tournament held on Saturday, August 11, 2012. The tournament was our most successful yet and because of our wonderful sponsors, teams, players, spectators, volunteers and donors our total proceeds for the tournament are expected to be $4,586.50. The weather held out and in an exciting final two games, the Goffstown Junior Baseball team, managed by Mike Santoro, came out of the loser’s bracket and challenged last year’s champions, The Bruins in the first game by beating them by the score of 4 to 3. However, The Bruins, managed by Corey Dearborn, regrouped and held on to beat GJB by the score of 3 to 0 in the final to defend their championship.
Other teams participating in the tournament were: 3rd place, the Goffstown Police Association, Mgr. Lt. Pierre Pouliot; 4th place, the New Boston Black Sox, Mgr. Don Chambers; tied for 5th place, Granite State Plumbing and Heating, Mgr. Kevin Baines and GNC, Mgr. Gary Gendron; tied for 6th place, the Junior New Boston Black Sox, Mgr. Maxx Chambers and the Friends of Babe Ruth Softball, Mgr. Bruce Rand. Thanks for coming to our tournament.
We had the wonderful support of many area businesses and organizations as sponsors for the tournament. Our very generous lead sponsor was Granite State Plumbing and Heating, Weare; Additional sponsors were: the Goffstown Police Association; Goffstown Ace Hardware, Goffstown; Profile Realty, Hooksett; St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church, Goffstown; Main Street Eye Care, Goffstown; Unique Ford, Goffstown; Nadeau’s Subs, Manchester and Pinardville; Ann LaBrache Psychotherapy, Manchester; Eugene Piana, D.D.S., Manchester; McDowell & Osburn, P.A., Manchester; A Market Natural Foods, Manchester; Brown Graphix, Goffstown; Celebration Awards, Goffstown; Pam Manny, Goffstown; and Phil Greazzo, Manchester. We would appreciate it if you would support our sponsors when you can.
Goffstown Junior Baseball has allowed us the use of their fields and has donated all of the concession proceeds from the event to Crispin’s House, for all 10 years of the tournament. This year it will be approximately $260.00. Thank you so much for all that you do in support of our efforts.
Our volunteers enable us to hold this tournament every year. We cannot succeed without them. Our sincerest thanks go out to the following: Umpires; Collis Adams and Gary Gendron from GJB, Gerry Bergeron and Kevin Georgantas from Crispin’s House. Concession support was provided by Gina and Scott Heidenreich’, Charlene Belanger and Nick Petersen. Registration support was provided by Diane Baines, Kristie Curtis, Peter Romein and Michelle Petersen. 50/50 Raffle sales were conducted by our VolunTEENS Jessiny MacNeil and Iris Zeng with help from Molly Baines and Katelyn Chisolm. Softballs were supplied by Bruce Rand from Friends of Babe Ruth Softball. A very special thank you to everyone that volunteered.
We are very grateful to The Neighborhood News, GoffstownToday.com and Carole Huxel for the wonderful pre-tournament media coverage and for the day of the tournament coverage from Jake Gagnon of the Goffstown News. Thank you so much.
Crispin’s House was the overall winner again this year and the proceeds of the tournament will go toward the continued operation of the vital programs that we offer to the at-risk kids and families in our community. We must also recognize the wonderful benefactors for our tournament who donated a total of $781.00. Thank you so much. Our board of directors voted to offer the donations received during the tournament to the Goffstown Babe Ruth Baseball recovery fund. However, the Babe Ruth Board decided not to accept our donation stating that, “Crispin’s House needs the money more than they do”, due to of the unbelievable outpouring of support that they have received from the community and beyond. We are very grateful for the amazing support that the community has for Crispin’s House and the many other non-profits in the area. We know that times are tough for many families but somehow the good people in our communities continue to come through for all of us time and time again. We are humbled by their generosity.
