Sponsored by the Weare Health Department and School Nurses
The Weare Health Dept. and the Weare school nurses will sponsor the 10th annual Community Flu Clinic and Health Fair on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Center Woods Elementary School. A variety of organizations will set up booths, including the American Red Cross, Crispin's House, Green Leaf Spa and Meals on Wheels. Lewis Family Chiropractic of Henniker will be offering free spinal and scoliosis screenings and the VNA of Concord will be sponsoring the seasonal flu immunization clinic. A cafe with snacks will also be available, with proceeds to benefit Weare's Angel Tree Project, which provides holiday gifts to Weare children in need. "The main goal is to promote health and wellness in our community." said Patricia MacNeil, school nurse at Center woods. "if we're all healthy, we spend less money on getting sick, we have fewer absences in the workplace, kids stay healthier- it all has a domino effect." MacNeil also added that the Weare Food Pantry is in need of donations and participants are asked to bring a nonperishable food item to the event. Cost of the flu shot is $25; no fee will be charged to those who receive benefits from Medicare B, Medicaid, Healthy Kids or select Anthem insurance plans. For more information, call 224-4093.
